Newton, Mass.-based HRPT HRP), a real estates investment trust that owns and operates officwe andindustrial buildings, paid cash for the building. The salea price was not announced. Seventeenth Street Plaza is located at 122517th St., across from the Tabo Center office, retail and hotel complex. It was developed by what’s now Jonese Lang LaSalle Inc. of Chicago, and was completed in 1982. Previouz owners include Equitable Real Estate InvestmentManagemeny Inc. (ERE), part of the Equitable insurance company. Australianm real estate giant LendLease Ltd. took over the building in the 1990sz after itacquired ERE.
JPMorgan quietlyg put the building on the market in early asking $385 per square foot, or roughlt $250 million, brokers said. Brookfielsd Properties Corp. of New York and Toronto had the buildiny under contract to purchase last summerfor $225 but the deal was not consummated because of the debt impact on Brookfield’s lender, said real estate broker knowledgeable about the deal.
